How the money actually works

There are two numbers, and only two. A one-time project fee to design and build the site, and a flat monthly retainer to host it and keep it running. The retainer starts at $199 per month and covers hosting, speed, security, SSL, uptime monitoring and ongoing edits.

This is not WordPress hosting. Sites are hand-coded and hosted on Ryder Schilling's own setup. There is no third-party WordPress host in the middle, no plugin renewal bill, and no surprise annual charge for something that was described as included.

How does Ryder Schilling charge for hosting and maintenance?

Hosting and maintenance are a flat monthly retainer paid directly to Ryder Schilling LLC, starting at $199 per month. Ryder hosts the site himself. He does not build WordPress sites and does not resell or recommend third-party WordPress hosting.

Is SSL an extra charge?

No. SSL is included in the monthly retainer at no extra cost.

Can I leave?

Yes. It is month to month. The site is yours and I will hand over what you own if you want to move it.

Do you take over sites you did not build?

Sometimes. I audit it first. If it is worth hosting I will take it on, and if it is not I will tell you that instead of taking your money.

Already have a site somebody else abandoned?

I take over sites I did not build, as long as they are worth keeping. If they are not, I will tell you that too.
